Find the cause when a carousel slide stays blank, shows an error, or a booth link opens the wrong page. This article is for the sponsor admin.
Before you start
The admin panel has no preview. The Virtual Booth drawer shows only a small icon, the title and the address of each item. To check an item, open your booth in the web app or the mobile app.
Carousel slides load inside the booth, so the site must allow embedding. Booth links open in the browser, so they need the address of the normal page. The two lists have opposite needs.
Where to find it
Booths > your booth > Edit Virtual Booth in the admin panel.
Check a slide
Save the slide in Sponsor deck (carousel).
Open your booth in the web app and move to the slide.
If the slide shows your content, it works. If it is blank or shows an error such as "refused to connect", follow the matching section.
Problems when saving
"This field must be a valid url."
The address is incomplete or has no https:// or http:// in front. Enter the full address, for example https://www.youtube.com/embed/<video id>.
"Url is not a valid URL. Please try again."
The host is an IP address, localhost or a name without a domain ending, or the scheme is not http or https. Use a normal web address.
"Please upload an image or delete the record"
The slide type is Image (upload) but no image is attached. Upload an image or delete the slide.
"Image size must be less than 5MB. Current size is <size>MB"
Reduce the image file to under 5 MB.
Problems with a slide in the booth
The slide is blank or shows "refused to connect"
The site does not allow its pages to be embedded. This is set by the site owner and Brella can't change it. Three options:
Use the site's embed address instead of the page address. Sites that support embedding publish it in their share or embed settings. See Set up your booth carousel.
Add the page under Side bar integrations (slido, etc). It then opens in the browser as a link, where embedding rules do not apply.
Add the page as a link in your booth Description (Edit Details > Booth details). The description editor has a link button.
Company home pages are a common case. Use the carousel for videos, slides and images, and the links list for pages.
A Google Drive file asks for sign-in or shows "You need access"
The file is private. Ask the owner to share it with "Anyone with the link" in Google Drive, then use the file's embed address (https://drive.google.com/file/d/<file id>/preview). If the owner can't share it, add the file as a download instead. See Add downloads to your booth.
The slide works in the mobile app but not in the web app
The mobile app loads URL slides in a browser view, the web app in an embedded frame. A site that blocks embedding fails only in the web app. Use an embed address or move the page to the links list.
A video starts muted, loops or hides its controls
These settings belong to the video host and are part of its embed address. Check the options the host offers for its embed code.
Problems with a link in the Links section
The link opens a bare page without navigation
You entered an embed address. Links open in the browser, so enter the normal page address.
The link opens a sign-in page
The page is not public. Make it public or use a public share address.
A form does not receive the attendee's details
Check the placeholder names: BRELLA_ATTENDEE_ID, BRELLA_ATTENDEE_FIRST_NAME, BRELLA_ATTENDEE_LAST_NAME, BRELLA_ATTENDEE_EMAIL. They are case-sensitive. See Add links to your booth.
Limits
Brella does not convert addresses. What you enter is what the apps load or open. The only change:
http://is loaded ashttps://.Brella can't test whether a site allows embedding. Check the slide in the web app after saving.
