Set up your booth carousel

C
Written by Customer Success

The carousel is a 16:9 slideshow at the top of your booth. Each slide is an image you upload or a web page, video or stream that loads inside the slide. This article is for the sponsor admin.

Before you start

  • You need sponsor admin access to the booth. See Access your booth in the admin panel.

  • When the carousel has at least one slide, it replaces your booth's Cover Image.

  • A web page or video slide loads only if the site allows embedding. Use the site's embed address, not the address of its normal page. See "Find the embed address of a video or file".

  • The Virtual Booth drawer has no preview. After you save, Sponsor page in the App preview pane next to the Update sponsor drawer (Edit Details) shows the carousel. To try the slides, open the booth in the web app or the mobile app.

Where to find it

Booths > your booth > Edit Virtual Booth in the admin panel. The Virtual Booth drawer has two lists: Sponsor deck (carousel) and Side bar integrations (slido, etc).

Add a slide

  1. Open Booths and select your booth.

  2. Select Edit Virtual Booth.

  3. Under Sponsor deck (carousel), select New. The Sponsor deck slide drawer opens.

  4. Choose a Slide type: Image (upload) or Embed web page / video / stream (URL).

  5. Enter a Title. The title is shown in the admin panel and in Traffic Analytics, not to attendees.

  6. For an image, select Image (Aspect ratio: 16:9), choose a file and crop it. For a web page or video, enter the embed address in Url, starting with https://.

  7. Select Create. Brella shows "Media item added successfully."

Attendees see the new slide the next time they open your booth.

Edit, reorder or delete a slide

  • Each row shows the Title, the Url ("N/A" for images) and an Edit button. Select Edit to change the slide, then select Update. Brella shows "Changes saved successfully."

  • Drag a row to change the order. Attendees see the slides in this order. The new order saves at once with "Updated successfully."

  • To delete a slide, select Edit, then Delete, then Delete again under "Are you sure?". Brella shows "Media item deleted successfully."

Limits

Image (upload)

An image, cropped to 16:9 in the upload dialog

"Maximum image size is 5MB." Larger files are rejected with "Image size must be less than 5MB. Current size is <size>MB".

Embed web page / video / stream (URL)

The embed address of a page, video or stream

Must start with https:// or http://; other addresses are rejected with "This field must be a valid url." The host must be a domain name, not an IP address: "Url is not a valid URL. Please try again."

An image slide without an image can't be saved: "Please upload an image or delete the record".

Find the embed address of a video or file

Brella loads the address exactly as you enter it. It does not turn a share link or a watch page into an embeddable one, so you need the address the site uses in its own embed code. In most embed codes, it is the value of src="..." inside the <iframe> tag. Copy only that address, not the whole code.

The provider's embed or share settings

The src address from the provider's <iframe> embed code

For Google Drive files, set sharing to "Anyone with the link" first. A private file shows a sign-in page or an error in the slide.

Brella has no special handling for any video host. Any https:// address that allows embedding works; an address that does not allow it shows a blank slide or an error from the site. The steps above describe the providers' own interfaces, which can change. Check the provider's help pages for the current steps.

What attendees see

  • The carousel sits at the top of your booth, above the logo and company details. Without slides, the booth shows the Cover Image instead, or nothing.

  • Slides are 16:9 and follow your order. With more than one slide, attendees swipe or use the arrows on the sides.

  • Under the carousel, a counter such as "1/3 media" and a Full screen button. In full screen the button reads Close.

  • Image slides fill the frame. URL slides load inside the slide: the mobile app uses an in-app browser view, the web app an embedded frame. An http:// address is loaded as https://.

  • On Android, a slide whose address contains .pdf is shown through the Google Docs viewer.

  • A URL slide loads only when it is on screen. When the attendee leaves the booth, the mobile app pauses video and audio in the slide and the web app unloads it.

Every slide view and the time spent on a slide are recorded for your Traffic Analytics. You see them only when the organizer has turned on Traffic analytics for your booth. See Read your booth traffic analytics.

Limits

  • Images: up to 5 MB each, cropped to 16:9.

  • A site that refuses to be embedded shows a browser error or a blank slide in the web app. The mobile app loads the page in a browser view, so some of these pages load there.

  • Carousel views are not leads. Leads come from lead scanning.

  • No limit on the number of slides.

Troubleshooting

"This field must be a valid url."
The address is incomplete or has no https:// or http:// in front. Enter a full address such as https://www.youtube.com/embed/<video id>.

A URL slide is blank or shows an error in the web app
The site does not allow embedding, or you entered the address of the normal page. Use the site's embed address. If the site has none, add the page under Side bar integrations (slido, etc) so it opens as a link instead. See Fix problems with booth slides and links.

The cover image disappeared
The booth has at least one slide. The carousel replaces the cover image. Delete the slides to show the cover image again.
